Airlines are charging extra fees that many travelers are not always aware of especially when they purchase their tickets. Baggage fees for overweight luggage and oversized luggage are probably receiving the most attention, but there are other fees which travelers need to be aware of when they fly. There are usually fees when you change your ticket. According to the New York Times Practical Traveler, From January to March United States airlines collected $769 in baggage fees, and $554 million from reservation change fees. There are usually phone reservation fees and peak travel surcharges too. Some airlines are charging for a pillow and/or blanket on board. Almost all of the airlines are charging for food and snacks on board. Some airlines charge for boarding early, and some also charge for "better" seats or aisle seats.
